Borders & Other Musings September 24, 2007

I want to thank everyone who turned out for my book reading/signing and discussion at Borders in Hollywood last week. I had fun reading a chapter from my new novel Fingerprints & Facelifts, and Joel (pronounced Jo-el), the Borders rep who organized the event couldn’t have been friendlier and more supportive. He asked some great questions too. He’s also been kind enough to feature my second book The Actor’s Guide to Adultery on the Staff Picks list for more than a year now. Gotta love him.
The President of Iran, during his speech at Columbia University today, said Iran doesn’t have any homosexuals like we do in the west. I find that curious since his government has made a policy of executing them. He gets my Imbecile of the Day award.
I’m spending the afternoon at Starbucks, my office away from home, paying bills and pretending to be productive. It’s one of those days.
I’m off to San Francisco this weekend to see an old college friend and her partner so lots of hazy memories of my days at NYU are floating to the surface this week. I was one of those big partiers in college, which explains why the memories are so hazy. That, and age.

I will be at Borders Bookstore in Hollywood, California, across the street from the Arclight Cinemas on Sunset Boulevard, one week from tonight at 7:00 PM to sign copies of my new mystery novel Fingerprints & Facelifts. So if you can make it, please come so I can create the allusion that I have a lot of fans out there!
Perfect Casting September 12, 2007

I just read Jennifer Hudson has been cast in the new Sex and the City movie as Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant. After Hudson’s star making turn in Dreamgirls, the idea of this delicious diva going up against the neurotic Sarah Jessica Parker is casting heaven. If I wasn’t excited about this movie before, I sure am now. It’s been a busy September with lots of meetings and deadlines. I just set up a light one hour mystery series at the USA Network, which I will start writing soon. It’s called The Nanny Files, and it follows the adventures of a hot young nanny in San Francisco looking after the three kids of the city’s Police Chief . This being a mystery, she also has a penchant for crime solving. I was a big fan of McMillan & Wife when I was a kid, and this is kind of a new spin on the couples solving crimes genre. I’m doing it with Fox TV Studios and producer Joanne Moore. Keep your fingers crossed.
